hrmmm time to blog again.
Lectures start next week, should be interesting. Still waiting for the textbooks and stuff. There are about 63 students in the internal Rocky class, so it should be cool.
I guess i just need to read the slides beforehand and wing it… hrmmm wait and see.

Got my new powerbook!, its really sweet, still waiting for the expansion ram and airport extreme card, but it works pretty sweet. Very speedy… way better then my poor iBook that got stolen… yay!

Havnt been doing much else, marking exams at the moment.

My grandfather passed away last friday afternoon. Went home for the funeral on tuesday. Flew to Brisbane then got a lift with some friends. I would have liked to stay longer, but i had to get back to get ready for lecturing and start marking the exmas i have to do. The funeral was as can be expected. My youngest sister said some stuff for the grandkids and it was really good. I was one of the paw-bear (someone who carries the coffin). I wore my uncles coat, the one that died a few years ago from cancer, so that was pretty neat. Fit me perfectly.

Sooooo, things back home are kinda settling down now. The fam is sorting stuff out. But i think things will be ok.

My other pop is going great. Still going good. I didnt get a chance to see him when i was home, i wasnt even there for a full day. I think ill go home sometime in the next few months again, whenever i can get holidays.

Mum and Dad are maybe coming up in April, should be cool.

yup, thats about it. Dunno what ill do tomorrow, mark exams, might catch a movie as well… there are a few decent ones showing… bleh bleh..

So im playing around here, just picked a new template for the hell of it. Ill see how it goes.. maybe it will grow on me…

Sooooo let the exam marking begin… gunna be flat out for the next few weeks marking exams. Should be ok, ive got 2 subjects to do but i think it should be ok. I havnt yet emailed the people about lecturing programming A next term, i really need to do that soon. I think it is oweek next week (or maybe the week after) gotta get organised.

I should get my new powerbook tomorrow, it was ordered a few weeks ago so technically i should get one of the ones coming in the batch that arrived in australia today.. *fingers crossed*

My grandfather is getting worse and worse everyday, the cancer is just basically eating him away now. He cant move or eat or anything, mum says its only a matter of time. I will head home for the funeral whenever it is, i couldnt give a shit about work when it comes to somthing like that. I missed my nans funeral and it is weird not actually being there at the end. So im not going to do that again, ill get home anyway i can. Id say i will get a plane from rocky to brisbane and get a lift with some friends. Should be cool.

Got a new game – command and conquer – generals, its really good, good for blasting sutff and so forth. I think simcity is still the favorite. Its got lasting power i reckon.

Had a meeting with my PHD supervisor today, it was cool. I am getting a dual processor G4 to use at uni! kickarse!!, hopefully with a superdrive and everything. That will be cool. He was telling me about the stuff thats going on and gave me 2 tasks to start on. One if writing a digital certificate generator for the P2P application him and another fella are working on. At the moment to generate a digital certificate tyou have to do 2 pages worth of commands and crap, s of course having that done automatically would be cool.
The other thing was writing a distributed/collaborative groupware drawing app that will run over the P2P system they are developing. Its basically going to be used to test out the system. Its pretty cool. I reckon i can do it. At last i get to do some cool stuff. Might actually egt me motivated to do some work.

So things are pretty much flatout for me, next term will be full on with lecturing and everything but i think i can handle it. Plus its good experience.

hrmm well i guess i better stop riting and see if blogger is going to work for me.. *sigh* *fingers crossed*

Got a replacement still camera and also a replacement video camera in the last few weeks. The still camera is kinda funky but i doubt ill ever use it. The video camera is a spny DCR-TRV18E, and its kickarse, its a bit smaller and lighter then my old DCR-TRV17E and the new one come with an 8meg memory stick which means i can jam about 70 still pictures on it. All i have to do know is wait for my replacement laptop and i can start playing around with it again.

SimCity is going good, my population is around 5700 people. Ive just expanded to anotehr region which has slowed things down a bit, but i figure it will pick up again.

I got asked if i wanted to lecture Programming A next term, its basically a first year programming subject, learning C++. I figure ill give it a bash and se how it goes, it cant be that bad. Plus the money is good

Im flat out at the moment moerating and marking assignments, its getting ehar the end of spring/summer term and exam are just around the corner. Ive got a fair bit of exam marking to do as well which should be ok. One of the subjects is pretty simple so it shouldnt take long. Its all good, making my bank account healthy again.

Also got asked if i would develop a database for the internation centre here at uni. Some simple contacts type database they want to replce the current access/excel spreadsheets they have scattered everywhere. I was thinking about it and i reckon i might make it web based. Would make it a lot easier for them to use, and making a web based database look pretty is sooo much easier then trying to make an access database look good. Plus the experience would be good, i like doing database driven web pages. yay!

right, time to go and finish the next lot of marking and moderating, i think ill go to the beach and do it.
