In America!
ok, i sent two emails to the mailing list but they havnt turned up eyt so ill post them here as well…
First Email:
Sitting at LA domestic terminal thingy, waiting for the flight from LA to Seattle. Its been delayed about 30mins, but thems the breaks.
Lashed out and bought a digital still camera at the duty free shop at brisbane. Sony job – 5 mega pixels of camera goodness *sigh*.
The flight over was as expected, long, tiring, etc etc. Spent the leg from Brisbane to Taipei watching movies, trying to eat the food and so forth. Movies where ok, i hadnt seen any of them and managed to get through 3 out of the 4. Got a bit crook feeling near the end of the flight, they where dishing out some weird arse noodles which totally stank. I dunno what it is but there is some food on flights that just the smell starts my stomach turning.
Got to taipei and had to get our boarding passes and so forth. Taipei airport was really drungy looking. Very plain, no plants or anything and the aircon stank of smoke. There was a smoking room at one end which im guessing was running on the same aircon as the rest of the place. There wehere a few shops we had a look round but with no currency and not being able to read the langauge – shoppiong got short very quickly.
The flight from taipai to Los Angeles was better, i slept for about 8 hours of it whilst listening to the ipod. Woke up and found that the music had stopped – flat battery. Th food wasnt much better, melanie managed to eat it though and ate the ‘better’ stuff of mine that she wanted. I survived on ice. Got some weird looks when i asked for ice in a cup with no water. Had to repeat myself everytime i asked. *shrugs* I guess not many people want that.
So the flight was long, and rather uneventful. I get way queezy when there is a bit of turnulance and when we are landing. Didnt barf or anything which is good, ive done enough dry heaving in airplane toilets to last me forever.
My damn nose was being silly all the way, stupid me forgot to put a few extra hankies in my carry on bag so i was stuck with one for the whole trip. I wsont go into details but its not pretty. Should have maybe had some pills in my carry on bag as well – oh well i know for next time.
Had burger king a little while ago, they have this bacon / cheese / sour bun type dealio that really actually looks like a bacon/cheese toasted sandwhich. I dont know where the sour part is meant to be.
So we wait. Im sweating and stinky from walking from the international terminal to the domestic terminal. Was held up for a short time at customs in LA. For some reason i was meant to have some green visa waiver form – which i didnt and havnt had the last two times i came into the country. Anyhow – had to walk up the other end of the customs thingo and get in another line. Filled out the form, got asked 50 questions and i was on my way.
Apart from that, not much else is going on. Flight from LA to Seattle should only take about 1.5 hours, then a shortish drive to melanies place. Shower will be good…
Second Email:
Woke up around 12:30 this morning. Bit of a sleep in after getting to melanies house at around 1:30-2am in the morning. The last leg of the flight was good, slept a bit and so forth.
Melanies house is big! They have cool light switches that are kinda big – hard to explain. The taps in the shower took me a while to work out as well, ya gotta pull it out to make the water come out, then turn it left to make it hotter or right to make it colder. I working on figuring out how the sink plugs work 
Mr Chin took us to some food type shops, had a big ol slice of american pizza with chilli and parmesian cheese sprinkled on top. CostCo – thats the place we went first, its like a wharehouse full of food and stuff. Everything is sold in bulk.
We then went to a hardware place, i dont remember the name, then onto another food place called wesco (i think) – so much to remember. Back home now sorting out emails and stuff.
The weather is good. The temperature is a little chilly but not too bad. Its kinda like an Inverell winter at the moment. Sun is out and there is a bit of a wind.
Well that for do for the moment, ive gotta get myself organised with this typing out email thing.
Ive got some pictures too, which ill uplaod to the web and ill post the addres here when its done as you can all see.
