Pictures Catch Up

Ok, Here are a few pictures from the last few days.

First few are form the flight museum – outside, indside, the concorde, and inside the ‘red barn’ which was the original boeing barn that they used to make planes in.

After that are a few of me with the troll under the bridge, this thing was pretty damn huge.

A few of seattle buildings.

The ‘first starbucks’ plaque and building.

The ‘Public Market’ sign from out of the movie “Sleepless in Seattle’.

And the sign from the Bruce Lee exhibit.

Sushi – its starting to grow on me

Posted on 2nd December @ 6:23 pm @ Melanies house

Today we (Melanies Dad, Melanie and Me) went and had sushi for lunch with her uncle william. He works at a place called REI – which is basically a HUGE outdoor shop where you can buy everything for hiking / snowing / bike riding etc etc etc. The sushi was pretty good – better then the stuff i had at the gold coast back in Australia. After lunch we dropped Mels uncle back at work and had a look round the shop. We then headed down to the markets on the seattle waterfront. Me and Melanie wenbt there before but it was late and everything had shut up for the day. Today was better – everything was still open and there where lots of people.

I got to see the very first starbucks coffee place (see photos). Its kinda oldish inside. We also visited a cheese making place – it smelt really really good and we got to watch them making it for a bit. We walked around the markets a bit and bought some chocolate from the chocolate factory.

From there we headed up to get some fortune cookies and also stopped by the Bruce Lee exhibition. I only realised when we got there that burce Lee spent a lot of time in Seattle – he had his studio here and stuff and went to the univeristy of washington. The exhibition was great!, i was impressed. I couldnt take any photos inside but i took one of the big sign out the front. All in all a really good day.

Tomorrow we are going to Renton Redmond (where microsoft are) again. One of Mels friends has flown in and is staying there for a little bit so we have to go see her tomorrow. Apparently we are going to one of the Outback Steakhouses for tea tomorrow so that should be interesting since they are supposedly ‘Australian Steakhouses’ :)

Also planning on going to see Augustina on friday. She is having a house warming party tomorrow night but we cant make it cause mel has to see her friend before she heads off to the Tri-Cities – its all good.

So yeah, thats about it. Constant problems with my website dont help matters but ill battle through. The trip so far has been way cool and better then i could ever imagine. Meeting all Melanies family is really neat and they are all really nice people. Still got a month and a bit left which is good. At some stage we are going to LA for a few days to see another of melanies friends so that should be cool. Keeping busy and seeing lots!

Late Update

Below are a few updates i typed out but didnt get around to posting due to silly webpage problems.

10am – 27th @ melanies house

So yesterday (Wednesday) we went around to Melanies grand parents house and had lunch. Fried rice, chicken and cabbage – YUM!. It was really good.

After we finished up we headed off to the flight museum. Melanies grand father used to work at boeing, he has cool photos in his house of the airplane he worked on. Anyway – he is a member of the flight museum and gets a certain amount of passes in.

flightmuseum

We got there and got our passes then just started looking around. Its pretty cool, theres lots of different planes there from military planes to commercial planes. They also have stuff on the moon landings as well.

After looking around enough we went outside and got in the line to look in the Concorde. They have recently got a Concorde that they are showing. Its a huge plane – but inside is only really small. Amazing to see.

concordeinside

We waited in line for a bit and got to go in. Everything was covered up with clear perspex. We couldnt even go inside the cockpit. Basically all we could do was walk down the small center isle and then walk back out. Not much to see at all really. Inside its just like youd expect the inside of a plane to be. Seats in first class are all leather – but honestly there wasnt much to see. Looking at it from outside was much better.

From there we went back in side to look at some history type stuff. Got to walk round the original Boeing barn – “the red barn”. The flight museum is build right next door to the original boeing barn / factory. It has been restored and is really neat. Inside just has information and stuff about how they used to make the planes in the barn. Few machines and tools and stuff they used to use. Not too shabby.

Then it was onto a new section they have opened that had a lot of stuff about the Wright brothers and the glider they made. Had all sorts of documents and notes and stuff they had written. Kinda interesting. One thing i found funny was a movie that was showing – the fella on the movie was talking about trying to recreate the wright glider and they said that even today it was really difficult to do. Apparently the wright boys where a bit worried about copying so they didnt write much down. *shrugs* Anyway it showed one american dude who had commited himself to making the glider. It looked kinda realistic and authentic except for the station wagon they used to pull it along to get in the air :P

After that – watched a few short movies about flight stuff, then headed home. Was late in the day so traffic was kinda bad. On the way we stopped off at a martial arts place and had a bit of a look around.

Got home and had meat loaf for tea!

Today (Thursday) is thanksgiving. Should be good to see. :)

****************

Day after thanksgiving – 29th

We all went out to the dim sum place again this morning. Its really good food there. After we finished that we went for a drive around some sights in seattle. A few parks, the ‘troll under the bridge’, etc etc. Tim (Melanies brother) drove and it was good. Took some pictures which ill post on my site when it starts working again.
Got home from looking around and ate again. Another HUGE meal. I swear my stomach is getting stretched – the food is sooooo good. I had to turn down apple pie tonight due to my extra full tummy. *sigh*
Got a new card game which we have been playing – “Fluxx” – its a pretty neato game, the rules change all the time. Its hard to explain without actually playing it, but i like it cause its not very repetitive – every game is different. Thats about it.
