So yeah, the weekend was spent reading, watching farenheit 9/11, and playing a few games – very laid back after my PHD confirmation talk last friday.
Books:
Spent most of the weekend reading.
The Subversion book is pretty good, im keen to get my hands dirty and set up a subversion server. – more on this later.
Games:
Finished Hitman Contracts, and started playing Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. Theres no doubt that Joint Operations is a Battlefield 1942 killer – The weapons are much better and it jsut seems to play so much better. Im yet to test it out at a LAN though….
Movies:
Farenheit 911 – damn good movie! Very interesting thats for sure. Kinda makes ya think….
Blog:
Also did a mock up of my new site design, im favouring a 3 column layout at the moment. Ive held back the urge to buy the new oreilly CSS Cookbook – but the more i leave it the more i want it – so ill definately get it.
Seems CSS is REALLY powerful, especially CSS 2.0 – so i kinda want a paper reference that covers actual real world samples. Theres heaps of stuff on the web – but a hard copy would be so much better.
Thats a lot of ‘-’ usage. I should actually read up one day on when you actually meant to use the ‘-’ character. *shrugs*

Well i had it today… went alright although i got a bit of a pounding in the question session. Some dude that didnt really understand what i was doing was asking really weird questions…. bleh…
So.. turns out i need to rewrite some sections of my confirmation document *sigh* Ive got 4 weeks to do it…. Its kinda silly cause the requirements say it should be 10pages yet mine is currently at 15 and they say it needs more…
So yeah, ill be working my butt off for the next few weeks on that.
Im planning on doing some webpage stuff this weekend – get it over and done with and get some cash. Im not going to do any uni work this weekend – im taking a break to get other stuff completed.
I should write more in depth blogs… stick around for the blog update coming soon, once thats done ill be able to use ecto to post blogs which should make things better.
over and out.

I learnt today that the term ‘Calculus’ can refer to tarter build up on teeth near the gums.
The following image – ripped off from the description at Dental Reference shows what im talking about.

Supragingival calculus occurs above the gum line. It’s usually white or pale yellow in appearance and is easily removed by your dentist or hygienist. It occurs most frequently on the tongue side of the lower incisors and cheek side of the upper molars. It usually occurs in these two locations due to the presence of salivary ducts which secrete saliva rich in minerals necessary for its formation.
Thats me – cheek side of the upper back molars. Its weird cause its in the same place on both sides – but i guess its got to do with the location of the saliva ducts.
So… i rang to make a dentist appointment, and the next available one was the 23rd August… Yup, over 1 month wait. Thats just nuts…. *sigh*
Oh well, get in line and wait i guess… joy.. in the meantime i guess i could just scrape it away with my pocket knife or somthing

This says it all. If you have questions about the DashBoard / Konfabulator debarcle going on then read that article – its great.
On a side note – it appears dashboard is a lot more powerful then i first though. Each widget is actually a webview – which absically means it can display anything a webview can – CSS, HTML, Quicktime, Images – and even better you can use cocoa with webviews… can anyone say powerful? More info here.
