FireFox PR 1.0

Take note Apple – Have a look at how firefox PR 1.0 has implemented RSS support. Take a good look. Do something like this or better with Safari in Tiger and ill be happy.

At the moment im not happy with the way the Tiger preview of Safari handles RSS feeds, you still have to manually go to each page and click the RSS button to see the RSS feed – whats the point? Im at the site why not just read it?.

Firefox lets you go to a site and add the RSS feed to your bookmarks. Later on, if you want to check updates just pop open your bookmarks and look at the sites folder, the most recent posts are listed. No need to go to the site if theres no updates. If there is updates, click the new post and your taken straight there.

Its nice, very nice.

Ive added a ‘Get Firefox’ button to the bottom left, Safari is still technically my browser of choice on OS X. I havnt tried PR 1.0 on it yet. If its faster then the old version ill have to reconsider.

As far as my PC goes, FireFox is it. I never use IE anymore, actually noone should use IE anymore. FireFox is so far ahead its not funny.

So do your PC (and mac maybe..) a favour, click the ‘Get FireFox’ button on the left and give it a try. You wont be dissapointed. ;)

OS X Icon Designers???

Where are all the Australian OS X icon designers??
Thomas is looking for an icon designer for his app, and i wouldnt mind finding one myself.
It jsut seems really hard to find someone to do it. We need someone who is a good graphic designer, but also has some knowledge of the Apple HI guidlines on icons (or is at least willing to learn). So far our search hasnt found much.
I dont really want to get someone from overseas to do it, surely there are good graphic desingers in Australia who are interested in doing this sort of thing. I also dont want to approach some company to do it either.
So.. If you are a graphic artist who

* can use apps like photoshop, illustrator etc
* understands the apple UI guidelines (or is will to look at them and learn)
* has a passion for the mac platform and likes making sexaayy icons / wants to give it a go

THEN CONTACT US! Leave me a comment, email me, email Thomas, or visit the MacGeeks.net forums and leave a post.

We want you! we want you!! *point finger*

Woah!

A week since my last post, damn. Been busy though.

* Working on MacGeeks.net
* Learning TCl/TK for my PHD stuff
* Finsihing up other website
* and other stuff…

yeah i know, im lazy to blog about everything :P

MacGeeks.net is going well, getting regular hits and signups. So far theres only been 33 signups which is a little dissapointing considering the amount of unique hits we receive. Cant complain too much though, its only a few weeks old.
Added more articles and reviews, with more in the works. Im starting to get organised as far as PHD and everything else goes. Do a bit here and there and you end up getting a lot done.
