Changing Rooms

So i find out on the weekend that i have to move rooms at uni. Something about new honours students and the general lack of space. Anyway, i dont really care, it doesnt worry me. What really annoys me though is the total lack of organisation.

I found out ‘officially’ on tuesday which room / cubicle i waas moving too. I went and had a look only to find the cubicle in a really dirty state with a heap of research papers and stuff sitting around. Fair enough i thought, it would be a few days before i had to move.

Tuesday afternoon arrives anad the tech guy comes to move us. Yep, totally unnexpected he just turns up. Anyway he moves one other persons pcc then come baack and tells me he will do mine first thing the next day.

Wednesday morning comes, i unplug my pc and box it all up ready for the move. Guess what? No tech guy comes. I still have no idea where he got to, i didnt get a call or email or anything. So i spent the entire day sitting around waiting for this guy to come.

Ive decided im just going to move it myself tomorrow morning. Right after it bundle everything up in the other room and throw it all in the rubbish bin outside. I couldnt care about archving it or whether the other person wants it or not, they should have thought of that before organising for me to move there.

So yeah that should be fun. :) In an evil kind of way im actually looking forward to seeing what kind of dramas it causes. hehe

AUC Goodies Part 3

Got my 15inch powerbook and airportr extreme base station laast thursday. I was actually surprised how fast i got it and it came before easter :D

The 15inch powerbook is awesome. The keyboard, although the same physical size as the 12 inch, is a lot easier to use. I think it has to do with the larger palm rests. Whatever it is its really nice.

It would be tough going baack to a 12inch after using a 15inch for any extended length of time. I plan of making the mosst of this one while i have it though.

So now i have aall the hardware, im into the ‘nutting out’ stage. IM still not 100% certain of whaat my scholorship project will be, but i figure i have a good amount of time to get a solid ideaa and design in place. The actual coding phase shouldnt only take 6 months max me thinks.

So yeah, all is good on the goodies front.

Powerbook Motion Sensor

Anther url with some really cool info.

http://www.kernelthread.com/software/ams/

Basically, the new powerbooks released in 2005, include a system that can detect if the powerbook gets dropped and automatically parks the hard drive head to stop it getting damaged. Anyway, it seems that you can get the angles and motion detection information programatically!

What this means is that its possible to write programs that respond to physically moving the powerbook. i.e. tilt it to the right to skip to the next song in itunes, control windows so the top is always at the top no matter how you tilt the powerbook, etc etc etc

Someone has already written a small game that is tilt controlled:

I think this is way cool, so many possibilities :) I think ill have a play when my new powerbook arrives :D

AUC Goodies Part 2

Emailed the other guys today and they said they had already received theirs, so i started the ring around here at CQU to find out if mine had come yet. Got put onto stores, who told me that indeed a package had come for me today.

I asked when / if it would get delivered to the Infocom faculty sometime today, and the guy said kinda bluntly “Nope, no chance, but you can come and get it”

I find this kinda funny, seeing as stores is like 100m from the Infocom faculty. :P

So i wandered up and got it, woohoo!

Keep up the good work CQU stores :P

*shiver*

At around 5:45pm this afternoon (Tuesday 3rd March), Melanie and I were walking in shopping fair headed to Action to get some veges. Theres a toilet on the way near the butchers so i pulled in for a pit stop while Melanie continued on.

I wandered in and went to the only free urinal thingy, not paying much attention to the 2 booths which were occupied. While i was doing my business, i looked over and noticed a green and white striped kids school uniform top and white skinned feet sticking out from the gap between the floor and the door. I thought this was a bit strange but brushed it off as some kid waiting for his parent or something (stupid i know, but read on).

So i finish my business and walk over to the taps. They are further away from the booths so its easier to see between the gap between the floor and the toilet door. While i was standing there washing/drying my hands, the kneeling kid learnt forward, it was then i realised that the kids pants were around his ankles and you could plainly see his butt.

No one else was in the loo, so i bent over a bit and saw a dark skinned mans feet – he was obviously sitting on the toilet with legs spread.

It kinda dawned on me then what was going on and i kinda felt ill. The kid was moving around in a suggestive manner and I was tempted to knock on the door, but instead decided to just go outside the loo and tell the butcher shop next to it to call security.

Im not sure what happened after that, i went on to the shops, I didnt really know what else to do.

My stomach is all churny thinking about it. It was so clear what was going on. It was definately a dark skinned male (i could tell from his feet, no shoes on). Im assuimg the kid was a boy as he had shorts and tshirt on.

bleh. How icky. Im kinda pondering now what makes a man do something like that, also pondering what makes a kid do something like that.

Nasty.

Id make a category for this type of ‘real like / icky’ post, but i kinda hope i dont experience it that often that a special category would be required.

:(

The Man Code

Some of these are funny.

The Man Code

Some i find funny include:

6. Under no circumstances may two men share an umbrella.

14. Women who claim they “love to watch sports” must be treated as spies until they demonstrate knowledge of the game and the ability to pick a Buffalo wing clean.

20. When stumbling upon other guys watching a sporting event, you may always ask the score of the game in progress, but you may never ask who’s playing.

41. When using a urinal in a public restroom, a buffer zone of at least one urinal will exist at all times. If the only empty urinal is directly next to an occupied on, then you are still required to wait. (Exception: at a sporting event where a line has formed to use the pisser)

44. A mans gotta scratch what a mans gotta scratch. This applies to picking as well. Let the man be.

57. You have not made any mistake if you find that there are extra pieces after reassembling or assembling an object. In fact, you have just found a way to make that object more efficient.

hehe *grunt*

I need a ‘Funny Stuff’ Category or somthing. hrmmm
