Parallel Worlds

Ive started reading Parallel Worlds again. Its a book i bought when i was in the US the last time and started reading it over there. I kind of stopped reading it when i got back to Australia but its a really interesting book so ive been putting some time aside each night before i go to bed to read a small section. I figure reading a small section each night is enough to get me thinking about it and not get myself too confused. :P

Its a cool book though, dealing with lots of cool ideas including time travel, parallel universes, etc Some of the ideas go right over my head, but i still enjoy reading it.

Ive got so many books that ive started reading. I tend to have more then one book in the state of being read at any particular time. Ranging from psychology, comedy, programming and non fiction.

Books are cool.

Late night activeness

Is activeness even a word? hrmmm… anyway..

For some reason my brain gets really active late at night, like around this time (12:15am). I get the urge to write / read / code / something, the thing is though that i feel tired. Its weird.

Im not even sure if i read a book, whether the things i read sink in or not, or whether ill just wake up in the morning wondering what it was i read.

bleh…

I guess i should go to sleep…

Cajun Fish

Melanie and I took Dr Hanes and Susan to Yepoon last night for tea. Dr Hanes is a person from the uni Melanie went to in America who has just sailed his way from the US to New Zealand. They are driving from Cairns to Sydney then taking the train to Perth and stopped by Rocky yesterday.

We ate at the sailing club, which was pretty good. I had a cajun fish dish which was interesting. The menu said it came with sour cream and salsa, but when i got it the sour cream actually had cajun spices in it. The fish was also battered in a cajun batter, so it along witht he sauce made for a pretty yummy meal.

Before we went to Yepoon we took them to the Rocky zoo and the gardens, it was pretty cool. Hearing the stories from Dr Hanes and Susan was entertaining.

Cant see myself ever sailing myself on a big journey like that, im not sure what id do stuck on a boat for that long. I guess id get a lot of books read.

Dentist

Well, the dentist appointment i made 4 months ago finally happened today, 4 months to wait and i was in and out in around 20mins.

Seems my teeth are ok, a bit worn from the coke i drink but not too bad. He patched up one of my back teeth with a small filling and basically gave them a clean. I asked him about the wierd spcer thing i have in the middle of my bottom teeth, something a dentist put in there ages ago to apparently stop my teeth moving. His opinion of it was i may as well just have it taken out, its not really doing all that much in there.

Kinda weird. He said it wasnt doing me any harm either, so i decided to just leave it there for the time being. He seems to think that it will eventually fall out on its own and he would be reluctant to put it back in. /shrugs

Other then that, my teeth are fine. yay! The build up of calculus i get is somewhat normal he says, and just means i need an appointment every 12 months to get them cleaned. Funny thing is, he is booked through till march next year already, so i figured id make an appointment today.

So yeah, I have a dentist appointment on 23 August 2007 @ 10:30am which is kind of funny considering im not sure what im doing next week let alone a year from now.

If anyone sees me the week of 23rd August next year, please remind me i have a dentist appointment. :P

Multicultural Fair 2006

Melanie and I went to the multicultural fair on sunday, it was pretty mucht he same as every year, lots of different foods, some people singing who really shouldnt be, lots of cheap crap market stalls, etc, etc

This year i was adventurous after seeing the fujian food stall, they had a selection of curries and chicken and beef etc, $7 for a dish with a bit of everything. It was too shabby at all, quite tasty. Melanie had her usually satay sticks.

The reason we were out there was because melanie volunteered herself and me to help out in the infocom faculty (or whatever the hell its called now). We were supposedly meant to be blowing up balloons or somthing at 2:30pm… we rock up on time only to find the balloon blowing up section empty. Melanie finds out that all the ballons are gone and i work there was done. So, free lunch on friday and a free shirt all for doing nothing was a pretty good deal.

The highlight to the day was seeing the dog obedience people, was funny watching the dogs run around the circuits and stuff.

Must be love…

So the people across the road from where Melanie and I live are in a relationship, or so i assume since they live together and seem to have a kid. Anyway, they are constantly fighting, so much so that today when i hear the lady yelling i didnt take much notice… until the tires of the car screached and the lady started screaming her head off.

I looked out the front door and it seems as if the guy had actually hit the girl in the car. The car was sideways in the drive way, like it had slide around a lot… im not sure how or why eactly… anyway, the lady was lying in the drive way creaming about her back or somthing. At that moment another couple came walking down the street, im not sure if they know the people or what but the guy called and ambulance.

30-45mins later… the ambulance and police had been, the lady was taken away and the guy was talked to. Who knows what will happen.

Its not really surprising though, they always have yelling sessions and the guy will take off in the car screeching the tyres etc etc.

Must be love? hrmmm, they sure have a weird way of showing it…

Wonder if i can convince melanie that running over her is a sign of my undieing love for her… hrmmm somehow i think not…. :P

Holy crap…

Its been so long since ive blogged…. whats been happening… hrmmm not a great deal, working on uni stuff… still, i have days where its interesting and days where it bores me silly, but thems the breaks i guess.

Keeping my mind active by coding, nothing great really, just simple little examples in cocoa to better my understanding. Maybe one day ill actually get one of the many projects ive started finished… or close enough to finished to release it on the world… heh

Nicks going great guns on his bike. Im surprised at how fast he picked it up to be honest. If he didnt have his orange jacket on with the L plate on the back while he was riding im sure noone would realise he is a nub. :)

meh, i think ill make some seperate posts.. that will do for this one
