Bonsai!

Got some potting mix today, and repotted my 4 mutant bonsai’s. Cut away a heap of roots as they suggest to do with bonsai’s, i just have to keep an eye on them over the next few days and keep them pretty well watered while they settle into their new surroundings.

Bunnings sell Bonsai starters, i thought that was pretty cool. Id never noticed them there before. I might actually grab one and try to make a little bonsai in a proper pot and stuff.

My mutant bonsai’s are a bit overgrown at the moment, i was going to cut them back but i think ill let them settle into the new poting mix and get over the trauma of having 1/3 of their roots cut off. Maybe next weekend ill give them a haircut.

Also bought some cut and polish for my car, looked like it was going to rain earlier so decided against using it. As it happens, it hasnt rained so i would have been fine doing it. Oh well, might do it sometime this week.

Doctors

Is it just me, or have doctors become really impersonal?

Maybe its just the doctors i go to?

Last doctor i went to was at the Richardson Road surgery. I phoned up and made the appointment and got there on time. Sat for around 10-15mins and was called in. The doctor was a middle age asian guy. Good thing about his was i could actually understand him, unlike the last doctor i went to.

Anyway, i sit down and he asks me what the problem is. I tell him i had the flu and i still have a nasty cough. Also have cold sore on my lip and sores up my nose. He listens to my breathing then looks in my throat then turns to the computer and spends the next 5 mins clicking away on the system most doctors seem to use now.

Out prints a perscription which he hands to me, then he says for me to take 2 pills every day. There was then an uncomfortable pause… i thought there was more coming.. until he said “that is all”. I thanked him and stood up and wlaked to the door. He stayed at his desk typing away at something else. I let myself out.

Actually reminded me of drenching sheep. All the sheep (people) are mustred into the pens (waiting room) and are then single file fed into the narrow walkway which leads to the farmer with the drench gun (doctor). Sheep (person) gets to the farmer (doctor) who then sticks the drench gun into the sheeps mouth then pushed the sheep through. The sheep is let out into the pen again (waiting room) then finally let go.

The whole process from pen (waiting room) to farmer (doctor) then out again takes maybe 5 mins, most of which is spend with the farmer (doctor) fiddling around with the drench gun (computer).

Its somewhat depressing. These people who we trust with our health seems so unapproachable.

I did notice though that a new doctor surgery has opened at the Glenmore centre jsut around the corner. I hope i get sick again soon so i can go try them out. Maybe they are better…

Sick…

I caught the flu while in Sydney with Melanie the past weekend. Sydney turned on great weather for us.. freezing cold winds, heavy rain, the whole deal.

To add to the whole thing, i got a cold sore on my lip. I hate cold sores. Its pretty much gone now and is just a scab on my lip, but its still annoying.

Went to the doctor yesterday and got some antibiotics, so hopefully whats left of the cold will slowly go away over the next week or so.

I dont get sick that often. The harsh change of climate seems to make my immune system shut down though.

The saga continues…

In the ongoing saga of our neighbours across the street, the woman today was standing out the front of their unit screaming her head off at her boyfriend on the other end. It was quite interesting hearing what she was talking about from the comfort of my computer chair.

The conversation went on for probably close to 20mins, and ended with her hanging up on the guy.

All that time, her daugher (and his daughter too i assume) was happily wandering around the front yard. I kind of wonder what she thinks about it all, cant be a good impression on her to be screaming down the phone and crying and what not.

I feel sorry for the kid. Kids are influenced by their surroundings so i can only imagine what kind of influence she has had, and will continue to have for the foreseeable future.

Resume *sigh*

So, ive started working on my resume… again… Ive never really been happy with my resume, im not 100% sure why really but it never quite seems right.

This time im taking a different approach. I started with a blank text document and have just gone nuts typing everything up. Im not caring about presentation or anything as yet, i figure i need to get the content right before even bothing with trying to lay it out.

So thats my general plan. I spent the good part of today doing that and its still not done. Ive added things, and taken things away and changed things but its slowly coming together.

Maybe by the end of the week ill have my newer resume done.

Cleanup

Went through and deleted a heap of old pictures tonight. They were just taking up space and not really being seen anyway. Just means some old posts are now missing the corresponding pictures… no big deal.

Also deleted a heap of spam comments that had managed to sneak past my spam filter. Ive tweaked the rule slightly so i dont think it will be causing anymore trouble anytime soon.

Looked around for themes for this, found a heap of generic type themes and basically got bored of them. I really wanna make my own, so yep its back to the default theme.

Blog Updates

So i spent a good part of today updating blogs. This one, the brooks family one, the bsnfam one and also Thomas’s one. It took longer then i thought it would.

I installed a nifty spam plugin on all of them that ive been using for some time on my own blog. It does a good job of sorting out the good comments from the spam, so hopefully that should ease the amount of normal spam.

Thats about it, hopefully theres no problems with them… no doubt ill hear about it if there is though. :P

One of the nifty bonus’s with this new version of wordpress is an updated default theme. I still have grand plans to someday update this from the default theme, but in the meantime it does the job just fine.
