New Scientist - Up for renewal
So my New Scientist subscription is up for renewal. I’m still way behind on my reading, something like 6 months or so but it’s not from lack of reading. The topics are just so interesting that I find myself re-reading certain articles which really slows me down. Then there is also the website access as well with extra stuff to read.
Anyway, an ‘incentive’ to re-register is a chance to win a trip to Borneo and also a free Orang-utan adoption from the Australian Orang-utan Project. It had never crossed my mind before that you could adopt an Orang-utan, but I think it is really cool. You get sent a photo of it and can get regular updates and also feel good that you have helped these little creatures. Very nifty!
So, even thought I’m behind, I think I will end up renewing again. I really enjoy the magazine and find it really interesting plus I can adopt an Orang-utan!

I only just resubscribed to New Scientist as well, and it was the orangutan that sold me on it
I can’t wait for my “adoption” certificate!
I intended to resubscribe as soon as I had a mailing address that I was confident the magazine would actually be delivered to. But by coincidence, this occurred at the same time as sending off my thesis corrections, and I was so excited at being able to have it addressed to “Dr. Nicholas Young” that I forgot to actually fill out the rest of the address after the title field until after I’d ordered and paid!
Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m famous enough that it’ll reach me without a street address, but fortunately customer service were able to find my order (at least I got the “Nicholas Young” bit in), and fix it for me
