WiiFit

WiiFit was released and being a Wii owner I had to get one.

I was a bit skeptical at first (sorry Nintendo), but after using it for the past 3 days I’ve realised how awesome it is. The WiiFit board is really good and is very responsive and the activities in the game are really well thought out and implemented perfectly.

Over the past 3 days I’ve done about 1.5 hours total of the various activities and according to my log I’ve lost 0.5kgs. I’m not sure how accurate that is or whether I was just wearing lighter clothes or didn’t have a stomach full of food. Either way, I’ll take it.

I seem to be a whizz on the hula hoop but I find some of the yoga poses a bit tricky. The other various activities are all fun. I don’t think I’ve done one yet that I haven’t liked.

Only thing I wish it had was a automatic exercise plan generator. So you could basically queue up activities and then do one after the other instead of having to stop after each one and manually pick the next. Would be even better if the ‘trainer’ allocated you a plan of activities to do based on what you had previously done. I think that would make it a bit more random and perhaps push you to do certain activities that you had otherwise been skipping.

Another awesome product form Nintendo though. There’s no doubt about it they definitely know their stuff when it comes to this type of thing. The board works superbly.

So is it actually intended to help you exercise to lose weight? Do you feel tired after using it?
From the TV adverts, it looked like a lot of fun, but not really useful for weight-loss - balance and bearing perhaps. Still, I’m glad that it’s another win for the Wii!

I’m not real sure. I think it’s more about encouraging you to get physical and like most things you get out what you put in.

I find myself feeling tired and sweating after 30 mins of doing the activities, so In some way it must be doing me good.

As far as a proven weight loss solution, I think that’s yet to be proven :P

ive been using the wii board for 2weeks at my freinds house, i bought one yesterday. to be honest i think it does make you loose weight if you’re consistent. some “excercise’s” on it are useless but if you do the aerobic and muscle excercise’s it can prove to be quite tiring.

i usually do the press-up/side stand at 10reps 3times in a row and after that my arms tire a bit. also the super hula hoop is quite tiring and usually gets me sweating after doing it twice.

overall its a good product, but that can be considered merely an opinion.
if you’re not sure wether you want to buy it, try it out first and you might be surprised.

Agree with you on the auto training schedule. Stopping and starting so much kinda defeats the purpose. Saying that, I haven’t touched it for a couple of months, after about 3 weeks of ‘exercise’ on it :) oops.
